Husband’s Wedding Day (pp. 65-67)
The narrator accompanies Inder Lal’s mother and her friends to the place of their pilgrimage: the Baba Firdau’s shrine, which originally been built by a Nawab’s ancestor. Some of the mother’s friends brought their daughters -in-law, but Ritu had to stay at home with her children. They have come to the shrine because of Husband’s Wedding Day what’s celebrated by the Indian women every year.
Arrived at their place of pilgrimage, the women sit down and have a picnic. They eat, drink, talk to each other and all in all they have a great time. The narrator is integrated into their life and also feels part of it.
